Hamilton Nimbus wins IDEA Silver

BusinessWeek has announced RKS won a 2009 IDEA Silver award for the Hamilton MicroLab® Nimbus, an advanced robotic pipetting system for the preparation of lab samples for molecular analysis.

From DNA testing, to diagnostics, to crime scenes investigations, to finding the next pharmacological breakthrough, the answers to some of today’s biggest questions are hidden deep inside the molecular structure.  Lab Technicians rely on highly-advanced robotic pipetting platforms to prepare plates for molecular analysis.

The MicroLab Nimbus brings to life a next-generation “pipetting workstation,” empowering lab technicians and giving them the sense of authority that enables them to complete this critically needed work with greater confidence.

The interplay between sharp angles and rounded curves of the Nimbus communicates the speed, power, and precision of the inner workings, while offering an open, airy platform that gives operators unique access to and views of the system.  The arms of the product give it a clear sense of shape without adding unnecessary bulk or hindering the end-user’s ability to work inside the deck.  A DNA-inspired light panel sequence through different patterns to communicate process status.  This enables real-time monitoring of workflow from a distance, eliminating the need for frequent trips across the room to check job progress.

The high-density deck layout and compact footprint of the MicroLab Nimbus make it the ideal platform for space-challenged labs seeking an affordable, flexible solution for high performance pipetting.
