The RKS redesign of the MiniMed 507 insulin pump was created to remove the stigma from having a medical device attached to your body around the clock. The softer lines and translucent case of this drug delivery system were designed to evoke an innocuous pager, allowing users to stay healthy without looking or feeling like they're patients.
After the newly-designed insulin pump launched in 1995, MiniMed's annual revenue jumped from $45M to $171M within three years.
