FloWater filtered solution helps Flint

Published on July 6, 2016

FloWater, makers of revolutionary and sustainable water Refill Stations, joined the relief efforts in Flint by donating eight units to locations throughout the city.FloWater Refill Stations, designed by world famous RKS, provide chilled, clean, 7x purified drinking water, while allowing users to utilize refillable canteens and bottles to eliminate plastic waste. This donation is the first sustainable, permanent solution of its kind that purifies and transforms tap water, regardless of its source.

In independent tests conducted by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, unfiltered tap water in one Flint location dispensed through aFloWater Refill Station resulted in virtually undetectable lead levels.

Flint residents have access to FloWater Refill Stations at the Flint Mayor’s office (1101 Saginaw St., #101) and the Flint police department (210 E. 5th St.), with other locations that include several churches, the Holiday Inn Gateway Center, and Richfield Public School Academy.

“Students can’t drink enough FloWater, and the faculty both trust and love it. FloWater is the single best solution we have seen for our water crisis,” said Pamela Haldy, Superintendent of Richfield Public School Academy. “Schools and businesses across Flint would benefit from having FloWater.”

“Many Flint residents must still rely on single use, plastic bottles outside of the home, creating an inefficient and environmentally harmful waste issue that will continue until citywide pipe overhauls are completed,” said Rich Razgaitis, CEO and Cofounder of FloWater. “FloWater Refill Stations are providing a clean, reliable and trusted way to consume safe and great tasting drinking water in the wake of this horrific crisis, while eliminating all of the plastic waste created by single use water bottles.”

FloWater Refill Stations allow for high volume water use, making it ideal for Flint businesses, restaurants and schools who have recently relied on single use plastic water bottles. FloWater achieves nearly undetectable contaminant levels through its innovative and cutting-edge 7x purification process, and connects to any potable water line. FloWater Refill Station filters remove lead, dirt, dust, rust, suspended solids, chlorine, herbicides, pesticides and other contaminants, and enhance the water with oxygenation, electrolytes and trace minerals to elevate the alkalinity of water.

RKS designed the FloWater Refill Station as an innovative solution encouraging an end to horrendous pollution from disposable water bottles. FloWater is making people fall in love with water all over again by providing a rewarding experience associated with reducing waste while simultaneously increasing health. RKS is proud to be a part of the huge success of FloWater’s advanced purification technology in Flint and this incredible donation, improving the quality of life for the city.

About RKS

RKS is a design and innovation firm that creates solutions for clients that are relevant to the market, build the brand and create emotional connection. RKS services the full range of companies from funded startups to multinational corporations. Founder Ravi K. Sawhney cultivated a people-centric approach modeled from his work at Xerox PARC in the 1970’s, where innovative methods using psychology as an essential factor in design resulted in the first-generation touch screen graphic interface as well as many other breakthroughs. RKS came to national attention shortly after its founding by developing the production design of the animated Teddy Ruxpin, one of the greatest disruptive success stories in the history of the toy industry. Success followed success, with RKS being in on the ground floor of tablets with Alan Kay, Pocket Arcades with Sega and the game-changing dental whitening system for Discus Dental. Another milestone was the turnaround of MiniMed, developing a discreet personal insulin pump that allowed millions of diabetics to shed the stigma of being seen as “sick.” This inspired design took MiniMed from a declining $40M in revenue to $270M in three years, leading to its acquisition by Medtronic for $3.6B. The 1990’s brought a confluence of deep introspection and humanity, along with insights into how the work of Joseph Campbell and Abraham Maslow could inform design. This direction led to RKS Design’s highly acclaimed Psycho-Aesthetics methodology.
